They enjoyed a cozy 55-39 victory over Clairton. Given Elizabeth Forward's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Clairton is ranked 355th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Bears players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bryant Blair, who scored seven points along with six rebounds and five blocks. Those five blocks set a new season-high mark for him. DaShawn Hines was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with six rebounds.
Elizabeth Forward's win bumped their record up to 6-1. As for Clairton, they now have a losing record at 5-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Elizabeth Forward will take on Laurel Highlands at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Laurel Highlands is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Clairton and Serra Catholic will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Serra Catholic has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 197 points over their last three games.
