The J.F. Webb Warriors will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Carrboro Jaguars at 7:30 p.m. J.F. Webb has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
Last Friday, J.F. Webb came up short against Vance County and fell 58-47.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jaydan Hester, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jabari Hunter, who scored 15 points along with two blocks.
Even though they lost, J.F. Webb smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 25 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Vance County only pulled down 13 offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, Carrboro pushed their score all the way to 58 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 59-58 to Durham School of the Arts. Carrboro has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, Carrboro had strong showings from Bakari Watkins, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds, and Jadon Pendergraft-El, who scored 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Pendergraft-El scored 15 or more points. Sam Kanjorski was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds and five assists.
J.F. Webb's defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-10. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.4 points per game. As for Carrboro, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
J.F. Webb beat Carrboro 63-51 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Does J.F. Webb have another victory up their sleeve, or will Carrboro turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
