Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (57), Southwestern Randolph still had to take the loss.
Southwestern Randolph lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nathan Ellis, who scored 17 points along with five assists and five rebounds. The match was Ellis' fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Marcus Robertson, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds.
Timothy Brower was his usual excellent self, scoring 34 points along with three steals for Eastern Randolph. That makes it four consecutive games in which Brower has scored at least 25% of Eastern Randolph's points. Another player making a difference was Nicah Taylor, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Southwestern Randolph's loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-12. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points per game. As for Eastern Randolph, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season.
Southwestern Randolph will head out on the road to face off against Wheatmore at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Wheatmore has now lost 14 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 20. As for Eastern Randolph, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Uwharrie Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Uwharrie Charter is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
