Oakwood is a perfect 6-0 against Covington since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Comets will take on the Trojans at 5:30 p.m. Covington took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Oakwood, who comes in off a win.
Oakwood took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. Everything went their way against Georgetown-Ridge Farm/Chrisman as they made off with a 12-0 victory. Considering the Comets have won nine matches by more than six runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Chase Harrison made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last four games. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Bryson Marcinko was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Jackson Dudley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Oakwood lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Covington suffered their closest loss since April 20, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of Terre Haute South Vigo by a score of 6-4.
Covington saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Landon Hardy, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Oakwood's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-13. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Covington, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-9 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Oakwood has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Covington struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Oakwood beat Covington 7-4 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Comets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
