Portal is 9-1 against Bryan County since November of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Portal Panthers' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Bryan County Redskins at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Portal has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 466 points over their last seven matchups.
Portal scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 90-33 win over Screven County on the road. With Portal ahead 42-15 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Joseph Thomas was his usual excellent self, scoring 28 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The game was his seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of David Thomas, who scored 13 points along with five assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, Bryan County had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Claxton as Bryan County made off with a 55-35 win. Given Bryan County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while Claxton is ranked 515th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Portal pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.9 points per game. As for Bryan County, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Portal skirted past Bryan County 63-60 in their previous matchup back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for Portal since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
