The Blackhawk Cougars will take on the Montour Spartans at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. Montour took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Blackhawk, who comes in off a win.
Blackhawk came out on top against Hopewell on Wednesday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Cougars put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 10-4 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by six runs or more this season.

Aiden Gill tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Logan Elich, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Knallay, who went 1-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Montour was a bit more limited in their matchup on Wednesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Central Catholic.
Michael Ivanoff put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Montour's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Blackhawk, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Blackhawk has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Montour struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Blackhawk might still be hurting after the 12-2 defeat they got from Montour in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Cougars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
