Auburn is 8-2 against Central since February of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Auburn Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Central Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Auburn comes in on 13 and Central on three.
Even though Opelika scored an imposing 61 points on Tuesday, Auburn still came out on top. Auburn secured a 65-61 W over Opelika. Given Auburn's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Opelika is ranked 161st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bradley Pearson was his usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Griffin Mclean, who scored 17 points.
Central posted their biggest victory yet this season on Monday. They breezed by Jackson-Olin on the road to the tune of 77-45.
Auburn pushed their record up to 21-3 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.0 points per game. As for Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.
Auburn skirted past Central 83-80 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Auburn since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
