In a tight match that could have gone either way, they made off with a 52-51 win over Gwynn Park.
Friendship Tech Prep Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malik Shackleford, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Shackleford hasn't dropped below 16 points for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Daniel Bumpass, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Defeat or not, Gwynn Park got some senior leadership from Ty Bevins and Demarcus Daniel Jr.. Bevins scored 16 points along with five assists and five rebounds, while Daniel Jr.. scored 16 points along with eight rebounds. Bevins has been hot recently, having posted 16 or more points the last three times he's played. Kendall Washington was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Friendship Tech Prep Academy has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for Gwynn Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-1.
Friendship Tech Prep Academy will head out on the road to square off against Thurgood Marshall Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Thurgood Marshall Academy: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Friendship Tech Prep Academy has snatched up seven consecutive wins on the road. As for Gwynn Park, they will face off against Surrattsville at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Surrattsville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight matches.
