The P.K. Yonge Blue Wave are taking a road trip to challenge the North Marion Colts at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. P.K. Yonge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
P.K. Yonge was handed a six-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They had just enough and edged out Bronson 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Wave have posted against the Eagles since March 2, 2018.
Mickinzi Anderson made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jessica Bain, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Brianna Garrison, who scored two runs while going 1-for-2.
P.K. Yonge hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, North Marion lost 13-1 to Bradford on Friday. The Colts have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
North Marion saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ariana Turski, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
P.K. Yonge's record now sits at 8-10. As for North Marion, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.
Tuesday's match might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. P.K. Yonge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like North Marion struggles in that department as they've averaged .439. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went P.K. Yonge's way against North Marion in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, as P.K. Yonge made off with a 15-5 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blue Wave since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
