The Lago Vista Vikings are taking a road trip to take on Canyon Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Lago Vista barely beat Harper the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings blew past the Longhorns 19-4 on Tuesday. The win was familiar territory for the Vikings, who have now won 15 matchups in a row.

Winter Callahan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with six RBI, two runs, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Mosser, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Emerson Burke, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.
Lago Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .357 or higher in seven consecutive games.
Canyon Lake never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Bandera last Thursday. They put the hurt on the BULLDOGS with a sharp 11-1 victory. Canyon Lake hasn't had any issues with Bandera recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Like Lago Vista, Canyon Lake also got a great game from a two-way player: Rianna Gonzales. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts Gonzales has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with four RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Cheyenne Fields and Liza Schexnayder did most of the damage at the plate: Fields went 3-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI, while Schexnayder got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs. Those two triples gave Fields a new career-high. Marley Christian was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two runs and two RBI.
Lago Vista's victory was their 11th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-9. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Canyon Lake, their record is now 9-14.
Both Lago Vista and Canyon Lake just can't seem to miss. The Vikings have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Canyon Lake struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.1 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Lago Vista suffered a grim 13-3 defeat to Canyon Lake in their previous meeting back in February of 2021. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
