Jordan has won seven straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Chapel Hill has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Jordan Falcons will square off against the Chapel Hill Tigers at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Monday, Jordan was fully in charge, breezing past Northern Durham 56-11. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Knights are ranked 609th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jordan found their leader in sophomore Olivia Yancey, who went 5 of 7 en route to 16 points and five assists. Journi Grice was another key player, putting up nine points and six assists.
Jordan was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Chapel Hill's strategy against Riverside-Durham on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Chapel Hill blew Riverside-Durham out of the water with a 58-15 final score. With the Tigers ahead 37-9 at the half, the game was all but over already.
Jordan better keep an eye on Dezariyah Clark. She was instrumental in Chapel Hill's win, going 8 for 18 on her way to 22 points and eight steals. Clark is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Rihanna Gregory, who posted eight points and seven steals.
Chapel Hill is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.8 points per game. As for Jordan, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
Wednesday's contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Yancey and Clark. Yancey has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 15.5 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. For her part, Clark has averaged 10.5 points, 4.6 steals, and 2.9 assists.
Jordan came up short against Chapel Hill in their previous matchup on Friday, falling 48-36. Will Jordan have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
