If the Jefferson Dragons were riding high off their 65-45 takedown of the Clearwater Central Catholic Marauders last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Jefferson took a 57-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bayshore Christian.
Several Dragons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Emanuel Robinson, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Darron Hannah was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Leading Bayshore Christian to victory were Tylan Lewis and Jace Jreisat. Lewis scored 19 points, while Jreisat scored 23 points. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Jreisat has scored at least 25% of Bayshore Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Will Stayte, who scored seven points.
Jefferson's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Bayshore Christian, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 5-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jefferson's road trip will continue as they head out to face Blake at 8:00 p.m. on January 9th. Blake presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Jefferson in Florida (Blake is ranked 43rd, while Jefferson is ranked 464th). Bayshore Christian and Sports Leadership & Management will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 11th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sports Leadership & Management is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
