Buford is 1-9 against the Eagles since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Buford Yellowjackets will head out on the road to square off against the Central Eagles at 7:45 p.m. Buford is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Last Tuesday, Buford had to suffer through a rough 96-42 loss at the hands of the Volunteers. While losing is never fun, Buford can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while the Volunteers are ranked 39th).
Despite the defeat, Buford had strong showings from Gage McManus, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, and Aaron Morris, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 38.1% of Buford's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Central lost to the Volunteers at home by a decisive 60-44 margin on Wednesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central in their matchups with the Volunteers: they've now lost four in a row.
Buford's defeat was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-20. As for Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season.
Buford came up short against the Eagles in their previous matchup back in January, falling 70-64. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Central's Caden Edmond, who scored 26 points. Now that Buford knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
