The Millard North Mustangs won the last time they faced the Lincoln East Spartans, and things went their way on Saturday too. Millard North took down Lincoln East 57-40. Given Millard North's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Lincoln East is ranked 189th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Millard North's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Avril Smith, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for Smith. The team also got some help courtesy of Addalyn Rooney, who scored 13 points along with seven steals.
Millard North's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Lincoln East, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Millard North will be home for the holidays to greet Benson on Friday. Hopefully Benson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday. As for Lincoln East, they will be playing at home against Lincoln High on Thursday. Lincoln High is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
