It was a good run, but the Minnesota Valley Lutheran Chargers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 66-53 to New Ulm Cathedral. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Minnesota Valley Lutheran has scored all season.
New Ulm Cathedral's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaac Miller, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. Zach Gieseke was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Minnesota Valley Lutheran's loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3. As for New Ulm Cathedral, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Minnesota Valley Lutheran will square off against Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Minnesota Valley Lutheran likes a good challenge. New Ulm Cathedral will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Wabasso at 6:00 p.m. on January 25th. Wabasso has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 28.
