The Mooresville Blue Devils will look to defend their home field on Friday against the A.L. Brown Wonders at 7:00 p.m. Mooresville is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
A well-balanced attack led Mooresville over West Cabarrus in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mooresville blew West Cabarrus out of the water with a 42-3 final score. The result was nothing new for Mooresville, who have now won five games by 39 points or more so far this season.
Mooresville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Randy Fulmore out in front who picked up 181 receiving yards and two touchdowns. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Norman, who threw for 282 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes.
A.L. Brown fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 victory over South Iredell on Friday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead A.L. Brown to victory, but perhaps none more so than CJ Gray, who threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Derick Brazil, who picked up 111 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Mooresville's win was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 West Cabarrus and 2-6 Hickory Ridge (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 43.4% over those games). As for A.L. Brown, their victory on Friday bumped their record up to 4-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's match: Mooresville has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 188.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like A.L. Brown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 176.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's match might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Mooresville won a contest that couldn't have been any closer in their previous matchup back in October of 2022, slipping by A.L. Brown 27-26. Will Mooresville repeat their success, or does A.L. Brown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
