Molalla hasn't had much luck against Madras recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Indians will host the White Buffaloes at 5:30 p.m. Molalla is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.
Molalla took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 7-1 margin over Crook County. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Garrett Brusseau, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Grant Brusseau was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Madras was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They lost 19-9 to The Dalles. That's two games in a row now that the White Buffaloes have lost by exactly ten runs.
Madras saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danny Jackson, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another was Jared Penaloza, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Molalla has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Madras, their loss dropped their record down to 2-12.
Molalla's speedy runners might be the difference in Wednesday's game. The Indians have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Madras, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Molalla continue to outrun the ball?
Molalla couldn't quite finish off Madras when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
