The Freire Charter Dragon came tearing into Thursday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past Kensington 58-55. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory Freire Charter has posted yet this season.
Freire Charter's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dennis Brunson led the charge by scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds. Brunson has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ibrahim Mahmoud, who scored 14 points.
Freire Charter is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. As for Kensington, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-6.
