The North DeSoto Griffins have been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a serious blow against Huntington on Wednesday, falling 83-35. While losing is never fun, North DeSoto can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 150th, while the Raiders are ranked fourth).
Huntington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carley Hamilton led the charge by scoring 23 points along with four steals. Hamilton hasn't dropped below 15 points for six straight games. Another player making a difference was Kyndal Graham, who scored 21 points along with three steals.
North DeSoto's defeat dropped their record down to 15-8. As for Huntington, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North DeSoto will face off against the Crimson Tide at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Huntington, they and the Gators will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a six-game winning streak alive.
