While losing is never fun, Barry Western can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 680th, while Quincy Notre Dame is ranked 168th).
Barry Western's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mason Smith, who scored 20 points. Jedd Abney was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Barry Western has not been sharp recently, as they've lost ten of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-17 record this season. As for Quincy Notre Dame, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 12-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Barry Western will take on Rushville-Industry at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Quincy Notre Dame, they will be playing at home against Madison at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
