Hudson has gone a perfect 3-0 against Brunswick recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Explorers will be playing at home against the Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Hudson 3.3, Brunswick 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Hudson's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Friday's struggle, when Norton hitters got past them. The Explorers came up short against the Panthers on Friday, falling 10-0. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Explorers were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, Brunswick entered their tilt with Elyria Catholic on Thursday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Panthers. The Blue Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by seven runs or more this season.
Kayden Draiss tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Brunswick got a massive performance out of Alex Hubbell, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Hubbell has become a key player for the Blue Devils: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gavin Trush, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Brunswick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Brunswick's win bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Hudson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-4.
Hudson was able to grind out a solid victory over Brunswick in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, winning 3-0. Will the Explorers repeat their success, or do the Blue Devils have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
