Basketball Recap: Uwharrie Charter Academy Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Reagan Burris and Kayla Brown

Uwharrie Charter Academy lost against Southwestern Randolph back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Uwharrie Charter Academy Eagles lost to the Southwestern Randolph Cougars at home by a 59-45 margin. While losing is never fun, the Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while the Cougars are ranked 48th).

Despite the defeat, Uwharrie Charter Academy had strong showings from Kayla Brown, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards, and Reagan Burris, who posted 11 points. Those 14 points gave Brown a new career-high.

Uwharrie Charter Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-4. As for Southwestern Randolph, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 15-0.

The future could be bright for both Uwharrie Charter Academy and Southwestern Randolph: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Uwharrie Charter Academy will try to hand Wheatmore their third-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Southwestern Randolph will look to extend South Stanly's ten-game losing streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
