Basketball Recap: Colonial Christian Takes a Loss

Fans were treated to a battle of the Cougars on Friday. Colonial Christian were outmatched by Community Baptist Christian and fell 77-47. Colonial Christian has struggled against Community Baptist Christian recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Colonial Christian had strong showings from Clayton Gannon, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and ten assists, and Andrew Sluder, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 15 points and seven boards. Colonial Christian is 2-1 when Gannon posts eight or more assists, but 3-9 otherwise.

Leading Community Baptist Christian to victory were Daviea Jones and Colton Aurand. Jones dropped a double-double with 20 points and 13 rebounds, while Aurand shot 69% from the field en route to 25 points. The match was Aurand's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Titus Clifton was another key player, putting up ten points in addition to seven assists and six boards.

Colonial Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Community Baptist Christian, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-7.

Colonial Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 76-31 loss against Suburban Christian on the 25th. As for Community Baptist Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 37-34 defeat against Heartland Christian on the 25th.
