Volleyball Recap: Mckinney Starts Season with Loss on the Road

McKinney had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lone Star Rangers on Tuesday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Rangers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in August of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-11, 24-26, 25-19.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madison Jones, who had 16 digs and two aces. Jones is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 14 or more in each of the last five games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Madison Head, who had 11 digs and three assists.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lone Star to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kaitlyn Smith, who had 21 assists and five digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylie Hough, who had 13 digs and two aces.

McKinney has already played their next game (against Reagan), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Lone Star, they will be taking part in a tournament against Plano at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
