The Windthorst Trojans entered their tilt with the Seymour Panthers with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Windthorst took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 54-22 victory over Seymour. Considering Windthorst has won four contests by more than 31 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Windthorst's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brock Belcher led the charge by rushing for 127 yards and two touchdowns, while also throwing for 137 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Kolby Teakell, who gained 149 total yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Windthorst's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Drew Anderle and his 2.5 sacks.
Despite the loss, Seymour still got an impressive performance from Brayden Loyd, who threw for 253 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 83 yards and a touchdown. Brason Zeissel was another key contributor, picking up 101 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Windthorst's victory was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 42.6 points per game. As for Seymour, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
Windthorst will head out on the road to face off against Electra at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Electra is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. As for Seymour, they will be playing at home against Petrolia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Petrolia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1058th, while Seymour is ranked 498th).
