Kent Denver (Englewood, Colo.) saw its 21-point lead dwindle to nine, but still managed to hang on and beat
Lamar (Colo.) 21-12 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a touchdown run by
Gunnar Sveen in the first quarter, the Sun Devils were up 14-0 at the half.
Kent Denver expanded its lead to 15 points entering the fourth quarter. KD scored once in the quarter on a
Joey Matarazzo touchdown run.
The Englewood school had given up an average of 11.6 points prior to the contest. Lamar's 12 points were well below their season average of 24.8 per game.
The defeat comes as a step back for Lamar, which notched a 28-14 victory over La Junta in its previous outing.
