AAA Region V recap Oct. 30, 2012
Strom Thurmond's Darius Hammond rumbled for the longest rushing play in AAA Region V this season in his game against Midland Valley last week. Hammond's team beat the Mustangs as he sprinted for 79 yards on the play and finished with 153 in all.
Strom Thurmond extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Midland Valley, 42-0. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
The Rebels' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Jauveer Hammond threw for 116 and one touchdown and Tykim Brooks had 100 yards receiving. Kendall Hill helped Strom Thurmond's passing attack out by catching one ball for 16 yards.
Strom Thurmond's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Rebels feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hammond has thrown for 1348 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, while Brooks has 52 catches for 859 yards. Hammond leads the league in rushing with 1138 yards.
Strom Thurmond took down Rick Knight's team 42-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Hammond ran for 42 yards in the win.
