Violet Ascencio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sandy Carrera was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Meanwhile, Eagle Rock posted their closest victory since April 25th on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Verdugo Hills, sneaking past 5-4. Five seems to be a good number for the Eagles as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Marcella Terrazas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Terrazas was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three RBI and two doubles.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Delylah Rodriguez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI. Joleen Cardoza was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with two runs.
Venice's record now sits at 22-7. As for Eagle Rock, their record is now 18-7.
Venice got the 'W' when the teams last played back in May of 2025 against Eagle Rock by a conclusive 14-3 score. Do the Gondoliers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
