Baseball Recap: Taft Comes Up Short

Taft suffered their closest loss since May 15, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Niles Notre Dame Dons by a score of 5-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Dons: they've now lost five in a row.

Israel Rodriguez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played. Evan Jocic was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Taft's loss dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Niles Notre Dame, their win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1-1.

Looking ahead, Taft will take on Morgan Park at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Niles Notre Dame, they will challenge Yorkville at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday.
