Basketball Recap: Morningside Academy Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Victory

Morningside Academy had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Monday. Everything went their way against the Dreyfoos School of the Arts Jaguars as they made off with a 55-31 win. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine matchups by 24 points or more this season.

Leading Morningside Academy to victory were Arianah Wallace and Emmilina Miller. Wallace dropped a triple-double on 11 points, 13 rebounds, and ten steals, while Miller posted 17 points. Wallace is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 13 games she's played dating back to last season. Selah Montero was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Despite the loss, Dreyfoos School of the Arts saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kaitlyn Maldonado earned ten points.

Morningside Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.4 points per game. As for Dreyfoos School of the Arts, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Morningside Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-17 victory against Master's Academy on the 16th. Dreyfoos School of the Arts has also already played their next matchup (against Boca Raton Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
