The Holbrook Roadrunners suffered their closest loss since December 8, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of Winslow by a score of 42-39. Holbrook was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January.
When it comes to explaining why Holbrook lost, one person who can't be blamed is Noheah Aberle. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. Aberle hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Deya Guerrero was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Leading Winslow to victory were Jauslyn Nells and Jaci Gonnie. Nells dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, while Gonnie scored 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylin Puhuhefvaya, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Holbrook's loss dropped their record down to 9-18. As for Winslow, their victory bumped their record up to 6-17.
Holbrook will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Lobos at 6:00 p.m. Snowflake presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Roadrunners in Arizona (the Lobos are ranked 19th, while the Roadrunners are ranked 116th). As for Winslow, they will head out on the road to take on the Longhorns at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Lizzy White and Gonnie.
