Simi Valley is 0-1 against Oaks Christian since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Simi Valley Pioneers will head out on the road to face off against the Oaks Christian Lions at 7:00 p.m. Simi Valley will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while Oaks Christian is ranked 21st).
Last Thursday, Simi Valley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 29-24 to St. Bonaventure.
The losing side was boosted by Brice Hawkins, who picked up 109 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also rushed for 93 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Oaks Christian had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past Westlake, posting a 45-14 victory on the road. The result was nothing new for Oaks Christian, who have now won five contests by 27 points or more so far this season.
Oaks Christian relied on the efforts of Nate Bennett, who threw for 163 yards and three touchdowns, and Mckenzie Parks, who rushed for 80 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Parks is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in two or more in the last three games he's played.
Oaks Christian's win bumped their season record to 6-2 while Simi Valley's defeat dropped theirs to 5-3.
Simi Valley was dealt a bruising 42-14 loss at the hands of Oaks Christian in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Thankfully for Simi Valley, Johnny Thompson (who rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
