The Austwell-Tivoli Redfish's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss dating back to last season. They were beaten by Pettus 60-32. Austwell-Tivoli was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pettus apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2019.
Pettus found their leader in underclassman Hayleigh Cruz, who scored 25 points along with four steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Cruz has scored at least 25% of Pettus' points. Carmen Cantu was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with eight rebounds.
Austwell-Tivoli's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Pettus, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Austwell-Tivoli will be home for the holidays to greet Moulton at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Moulton's defense has only allowed 30 points per game this season, so Austwell-Tivoli's offense will have their work cut out for Austwell-Tivoli. Pettus will be home for the holidays to greet Waelder at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waelder has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
