The Fort Lauderdale Flying L will challenge the South Plantation Paladins at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Fort Lauderdale is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They walked away with an 11-6 victory over Cooper City. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Flying L's.
Kylie Keenan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. Keenan was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Fort Lauderdale let Jazette Dollar and Tannar Keenan run wild. Dollar went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Keenan went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Quinn McFadden, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, South Plantation entered their tilt with Nova on Tuesday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Titans a 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Paladins, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Victoria Vazquez was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna DiLella, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles.
South Plantation always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nova only posted an OBP of .100.
Fort Lauderdale's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for South Plantation, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fort Lauderdale hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. However, it's not like South Plantation struggles in that department as they've averaged .350. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Fort Lauderdale might still be hurting after the 18-1 loss they got from South Plantation in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can the Flying L's avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
