The Grosse Pointe South Blue Devils lost against the Dakota Cougars on January 9th, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. Grosse Pointe South fell 50-37 to Dakota. While losing is never fun, Grosse Pointe South can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while Dakota is ranked 21st).
Dakota's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tambre Williams, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds. Williams is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Samone Andrews, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Grosse Pointe South and nudges their season record down to 5-7. As for Dakota, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-2 record this season.
Grosse Pointe South will head out on the road to face off against L'Anse Creuse North at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. L'Anse Creuse North has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 9. As for Dakota, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grosse Pointe North at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Grosse Pointe North sitting on four straight wins and Dakota on three.
