The Schuylkill Valley Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Susquenita Blackhawks at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Schuylkill Valley 3.5, Susquenita 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Wednesday, Schuylkill Valley was able to grind out a solid victory over Wyomissing, taking the game 8-4. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Spartans: they've now won three in a row.
Katelyn Raymond spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits.
At the plate, Brooke Angstadt was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Kylie Gunter also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Meanwhile, Susquenita strolled into their game on Thursday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They put the hurt on Central Cambria with a sharp 16-4 victory. The result was nothing new for the Blackhawks, who have now won nine contests by nine runs or more so far this season.
Ayahna Fleisher made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tierney Stuempfle, who fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kylah Fleisher, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double.
Susquenita kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive games.
Susquenita pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Schuylkill Valley, their record now sits at 8-3.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Schuylkill Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .329. However, it's not like Susquenita struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
