The Stansbury Stallions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They walked away with a 59-46 victory over Tooele. The win was a breath of fresh air for Stansbury as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.
Stansbury found their leader in underclassman Bryn leigh Jones, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That's the first time this season that Jones scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Jensen, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Tooele had strong showings from Kennedy Searle, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three blocks, and Macie Gustin, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and two blocks. That's the first time this season that Gustin posted two or more blocks.
Stansbury's victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-12. As for Tooele, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stansbury will take on Hillcrest at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hillcrest comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 22 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Tooele, they will be playing at home against Jordan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
