Baseball Game Preview: Lakes Lancers vs. Mount Tahoma T-Birds

Lakes is 8-2 against Mount Tahoma since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Lancers will square off against the T-Birds at 4:00 p.m. Lakes will be strutting in after a victory while Mount Tahoma will be coming in after a defeat.

Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Lakes turned things around against Lincoln on Tuesday. They blew past the Abes 12-3. That looming 12-3 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Lancers yet this season.

Aaron Miller was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lakes let Christopher Payzant and Amare Ellis run wild. Payzant got on base in all five of his plate appearances with four runs and one RBI, while Ellis went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those four RBI gave Ellis a new career-high. Derek Doss was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Meanwhile, Mount Tahoma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They lost 15-0 to North Thurston.

Mount Tahoma's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Lakes, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-11 and their overall record up to 3-15.

Everything went Lakes' way against Mount Tahoma in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Lakes made off with a 9-1 victory. Do the Lancers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the T-Birds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
