Catholic Central hasn't had much luck against Mechanicsburg recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Irish will square off against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Catholic Central barely beat Greenon the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Irish blew past the Knights 18-3 on Thursday. The Irish's victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.
Brody Adams made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits (and not a single walk). Adams was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with six RBI, three runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Catholic Central got a massive performance out of Berkeley Little, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-6. Little is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Aleec Tackett was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Catholic Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenon only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, Mechanicsburg put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Fairbanks with a sharp 14-1 win. The Indians might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matchups by 13 runs or more this season.
Like Catholic Central, Mechanicsburg also got a great game from a two-way player: Crew Lafary. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Lafary was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs and four RBI. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Conner Eyink, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Colton Walborn, who scored three runs while going 2-for-2.
Mechanicsburg's victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-0. The team's perfect season has a lot to do with their hitting performance: the team's won by an average of 10 runs thus far. As for Catholic Central, their record now sits at 3-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Catholic Central has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Mechanicsburg struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Catholic Central suffered a grim 9-2 defeat to Mechanicsburg in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Irish avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
