Randolph Southern had lost three straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped down to 2-7 to make it four. They lost 14-4 to the Winchester Community Falcons. The Rebels were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Falcons earlier this season, when they won 20-16.
Memphis Miller was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.
As for Winchester Community, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-11 record. Considering their hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.
On Winchester Community's side, Maycee Grasse made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. Grasse was also big at the plate, earning three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aviana Ramos, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Mahala Willis, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Coming up, Randolph Southern will challenge Elwood at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.64 runs per game on average), something the Rebels will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Winchester Community, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, an 11-0 defeat against Monroe Central on the 9th.
