The Sandy Valley Sidewinders had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were the victim of a rough 40-15 loss at the hands of Laughlin on Wednesday. Sandy Valley lost against Laughlin in their previous head to head back in December of 2019, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 52-24 score last time.
Laughlin's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Valeria Qunitero, who scored 13 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which Qunitero has scored at least 25% of Laughlin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daishanae Jackson, who scored 11 points.
Sandy Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Laughlin, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Sandy Valley will be playing in front of their home fans against Baker at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Laughlin, they will head out on the road to face off against Needles at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
