The Clarksdale Wildcats had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 57-39 victory over West Tallahatchie on Thursday. The victory was just what Clarksdale needed coming off of a 48-20 loss in their prior game.
Several Choctaws players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reginald Walker, who scored 13 points. Those 13 points set a new season-high mark for him. Jamarria Bailey was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Clarksdale's victory ended a eight-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-10. As for West Tallahatchie, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clarksdale will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Forest Hill at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forest Hill is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home. West Tallahatchie will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on South Delta at 6:00 p.m. on January 3, 2024.
