The Stadium Tigers will head out on the road to square off against the Kentridge Chargers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Stadium is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
On Monday, Stadium beat Mt. Rainier 5-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.
Izzy Galindo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up seven Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kate Erickson, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, Kentridge hadn't done well against Kentwood recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Chargers never let the Conquerors get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Chargers, who have now won four matches in a row.
The result came thanks to Jozi Thompson's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 19 Ks. Those 19 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
On the hitting side, Genesis Miller was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Alissa Andrews also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Stadium's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Kentridge, their victory bumped their record up to 12-4.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Stadium hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. However, it's not like Kentridge struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Stadium took their win against Kentridge when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 11-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
