Langston Hughes dropped to 5-7 on Tuesday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins at home. They came up short against the Lovejoy Wildcats, falling 22-13. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 15-12.
Brandi Walter put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and 21 unearned) runs off 11 hits. Walter was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Destini Evans made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Gabby Phillips, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
As for Lovejoy, they moved to 4-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won three matches by nine runs or more so far this season.
On Lovejoy's side, the team relied heavily on Kennedi Harley, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six stolen bases, and five runs. What's more, Harley posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in September of 2024. Kerri Moore was another key player, going 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs.
We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Langston Hughes is set to face off against their familiar foe McIntosh at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lovejoy will challenge rival Dutchtown at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
