BEND, Ore. - the Cougars scored 23 points in the second quarter to secure a big 41-14 victory over
Bend (Ore.) on Saturday.
Mountain View scored on a
Kyler Ayers touchdown run, a passing touchdown and a rushing touchdown in the quarter.
MV was up 30-6 at the half after taking the lead on a touchdown catch by Ayers in the first quarter.
The Cougars expanded their lead to 34 points entering the fourth quarter. Mountain View scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run.
Ayers was the top performer for MV. The senior running back ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored 16 touchdowns on the season.
The Cougars came in allowing an average of 27.9 points per game this season. The defense really stepped up, holding the Lava Bears well below their season average of 23.6 points scored per game.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 35-13 win for MV.
The win was a nice bounce back for the Cougars, which lost to Redmond last week, 22-10.
