Geffen Academy and Hawthorne Math & Science Academy are an even 3-3 against one another since December of 2019, but not for long. The Geffen Academy Bruins' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Hawthorne Math & Science Academy The Aviators on January 23rd. Geffen Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Friday, Geffen Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Lennox Academy, but they still walked away with a 55-50 victory.
Meanwhile, Hawthorne Math & Science Academy waltzed into their matchup on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top against New Roads by a score of 54-41.
Hawthorne Math & Science Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Roland Essah out in front who scored 21 points. Troy Stuart was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Geffen Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Hawthorne Math & Science Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Geffen Academy ended up a good deal behind Hawthorne Math & Science Academy in their previous meeting on January 4th, losing 68-49. Can Geffen Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
