St. Mary has gone a perfect 10-0 against Mount St. Mary Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Lancers will head out to take on the Thunder at 4:30 p.m. St. Mary's will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each matchup than the last.
St. Mary's gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Nichols.
Olivia Lange looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, St. Mary's got a massive performance out of Lauren Payne, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, one triple, and two RBI. That triple was Payne's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ella Dovey, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.
St. Mary's kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nichols only managed seven hits.
Mount St. Mary Academy not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2024 (when they won 24-6). They came out on top against Kenmore West by a score of 9-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The game was the first time the Thunder have beaten the Blue Devils on their field since March 27, 2019.
Taylor Zajac and Isabella Kilonsky made a big impact no matter where they played. Throwing, Zajac didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Meanwhile, Kilonsky tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. At the plate, Zajac went 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI, while Kilonsky went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Claire Gaulin was a standout: she went 1-for-5 with four RBI and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024. Liliana Misterkiewicz was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs and one double.
St. Mary's now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Mount St. Mary Academy, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Everything went St. Mary's way against Mount St. Mary Academy in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as St. Mary's made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
