Softball Game Preview: Brusly Panthers vs. Erath Bobcats

Brusly is a perfect 4-0 against Erath since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Panthers face off against the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. Brusly will be strutting in after a win while Erath will be coming in after a defeat.

On Tuesday, Brusly earned an 11-6 victory over E.D. White. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Abigail Heidbrink looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Brusly let Zoe Fabre and Emma Loupe run wild. Fabre got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Loupe fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 4-for-5. Those two home runs gave Loupe a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby David, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.

Brusly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as E.D. White only posted an OBP of .355.

Meanwhile, Erath was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss dating back to last season. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-8 heartbreaker at the hands of Loreauville.

Brusly pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 9.75 hits in those games compared to only 5.25 in the others. As for Erath, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.

Everything went Brusly's way against Erath in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Brusly made off with a 14-4 win. Will Brusly repeat their success, or does Erath have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
