West Washington is 8-2 against Springs Valley since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Senators will venture away from home to square off against the Blackhawks at 5:00 p.m. West Washington is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
While West Washington's win against Borden wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Senators won by a run and slipped past the Braves 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Senators in their matchups with the Braves: they've now won nine in a row.
Macy Lowery made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Lilly Thompson was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. Meredith Deaton was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Springs Valley fell victim to Orleans and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Bulldogs by a score of 2-0.
Springs Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lily Hickman, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
West Washington's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Springs Valley, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 7-6.
Springs Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Washington hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .330. It's a different story for Springs Valley, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain West Washington's hitters?
Everything went West Washington's way against Springs Valley in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as West Washington made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Senators since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
