Handley extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 2-7. They lost 14-7 to the Skyline Hawks. The Judges were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hawks from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.
Elijah Shelton was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Another player making a difference was Jacob Swartz, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
As for Skyline, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5. They not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 23, 2025 (when they won 14-1).
On Skyline's side, Kaiden Brown made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Brown posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cameron Kerns, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Joey Pendleton was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Handley will host Martinsburg at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bulldogs' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Judges' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Skyline, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sherando at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
